Life at Atlantic Shores is enriched by the diverse backgrounds of our residents. Not surprisingly, many have military backgrounds and decided to settle in Hampton Roads, home to many Navy, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard facilities. Enlisted personnel and high-ranked officers are both well represented, along with most ranks in between.
Our community is by no means limited to ex-military residents. Many are from the healthcare field, including dentists, medical doctors, psychologists, physical therapists and nurses.
Our professional retirees also include a nuclear engineer, business owners, airline staff, a United Nations official, school teachers and administrators, a Congressional aide, college professors, a diplomat, writers, homemakers, finance specialists, fundraisers, musicians, federal employees, a World Bank staff member, pastors, real estate agents, farmers, head of an international organization, sport fishermen, a race car specialist, artists, a professional actor, wine specialists, building contractors, a NYC fireman, and even a professional ballet dancer.
This wide variety of backgrounds creates a diverse neighborhood, where friendships are easily made. Our residents frequently share they feel like they’re part of a special community, with people who know and care about each other. First names are the standard, and last names are rarely used!
