Marie Oberwetter

Managing Director of Resident and Health Services

Marie is Assistant General Manager for Atlantic Shores Retirement Community.  In this position, she has played a key role in developing Atlantic Shores’ assisted living unit; increasing the medical coverage in The Wellness Center; and developing an in-house program for personal nursing assistance delivered in the comfort of residents’ homes.  Her latest and most exciting accomplishment has been the development of the beautiful new Harbourway Assisted Living facility, in collaboration with the Assisted Living Administrator.

Marie’s background includes an extensive range of health care experience.  She has worked as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care in many settings including military, Veterans Hospital, and teaching hospitals throughout the country.  Marie spent time in the Air Force and Army Nurse Corps, serving in Desert Storm and with a humanitarian mission in Honduras.

Returning to school to earn a Masters Degree in Administration of Long-Term Facilities at the University of North Texas, Marie was very fortunate to work with the founders of long-term education and research.  After completing an Administrator in Training course in Florida, Marie was assigned to a Chicago retirement community that offered retirement apartments, skilled nursing, and an Alzheimer’s unit.  Her love of this field led her to her next assignment – in Virginia Beach, at Atlantic Shores Retirement Community.
